School Security Community Forum Upate: Superintendent Knuth -
On April 10th we held our first school security community forum to address concerns and work together with families to identify opportunities that provide all APW students with a safer and more connected school experience. Members of our Board of Education, school administrators, faculty, staff, and APW families particiated in a S.W.O.T. analysis workshop where we identified strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats with regard to safety and security at APW schools. Special thanks to District Attorney Greg Oakes who has been there every step of the way to support safety and security in the APW community. I had the opportunity to participate in a number of productive conversations throughout the evening and a few common themes emerged: We need additional resources to support mental health services; We need to expand educational programs and after-school activities for students; A lack of cellular reception in our community is not only an inconvenience, but a very real safety concern; We must continue to train faculty, staff, and students; Community support for the SRO program is clear.
