APW Celebrates 100th Day of School Milestone

School days can drag during the long winter season in New York, but not for Altmar-Parish-Williamstown (APW) Elementary School students who celebrated their 100th day of school in style.

To mark the 100th day of the 2016-2017 school year, the APW students arrived at school dressed as if they were 100 years old. Some wore glasses, others carried walking canes and a few even died their hair a temporary grey.

During a 100 days of school celebration in the school’s cafeteria, the youngsters completed a series of activities by the hundreds including singing a “100 Days of School” song, completing 100 exercises,  and listening to a reading of the book “100 Days of School” by Trudy Harris.

Teacher Valerie Wade sat all of the elementary-schoolers in a circle and led them in a counting of every student to see if they had more than 100 students in the room, and the children shouted with joy once they passed 100.

Perhaps the most excitement was felt when the group was challenged to see if they all could fit inside of Principal Heather Costello’s office at the same time. One by one, the students successfully piled into the standard size office and even pulled off a selfie with Principal Costello.

APW students Noah Spencer, Riley Wing and Carlie Johnston were presented with awards for perfect attendance this year thus far.
