Nearly Half a Million Dollars in Scholarships Awarded to APW Seniors

Senior students of Altmar-Parish-Williamstown (APW) Central School District were awarded nearly half a million dollars in scholarships collectively during their Senior Awards Ceremony.
Among the many awards distributed were: the Class of 1967 Memorial Award given to descendants of the members of the Class of 1967 in memory of class members lost; numerous Dollars for Scholars Scholarships; and the APW Honor Graduate Award distributed to students who earned a 90 grade point average or above all four years of high school. This year’s graduating class has more than 15 honor graduates, and each will wear a special medal during their graduation ceremony in recognition of their efforts.
It is customary for the student awardees to request a favorite teacher or an inspirational person in their lives to read their awards during the ceremony. 2017 Valedictorian Jenna Brockett requested her third and fourth grade teacher Chad Bigelow to read her awards, since he once told her in grade school that she had the makings to be the valedictorian one day.
“It is clear that our staff and community members have a great impact on our students,” said APW Junior-Senior High School Principal Michelle Crisafulli.
