APW Elementary Celebrates World Read Aloud Day

On February 1st students at Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Elementary School celebrated World Read Aloud Day. The day is celebrated each year around the globe to advocate for literacy and participants share stories about this all-important right. Studies show that reading aloud to children every day puts them almost a year ahead of children who read to daily. Guest readers could be found all over the school and students even practiced reading aloud to staff and each other.

APW Junior/Senior High School Principal Joe Olsen is pictured as he read the book “The Math Curse” to students in Mrs. Mullin’s sixth grade math class.

APW Elementary School Principal Julie Woolson reads a story about a big problem that turns into a positive when the character changes their attitude about the problem.
