APW Kindergarten authors share personal stories in first published books

Students in two APW kindergarten classes proudly celebrated their new role as published authors, an important milestone combining creativity, literacy and everything they learned throughout the school year.
Mrs. Pond’s class released, “I Am Me,” a collection of self-portraits and personal reflections written and illustrated by each student. The book showcased the uniqueness and creativity of every child, with each page offering a glimpse into what makes them special.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Breezee’s class captured the joy of their first school year in “The Best Days of Kindergarten.” Students used their own words and illustrations to share their favorite memories, which included holidays, events, recess, special classes and time spent with friends.
To honor the big accomplishment, each class held a book launch party. Families gathered to hear the young authors read their stories aloud, followed by a reception with cupcakes and sweet treats.
Mrs. Pond expressed immense pride for her students. “This project not only supported their growth as writers and artists,” she said, “but helped them build confidence in who they are.”
